For years, Dragon Shield has been the go-to choice for many Magic: The Gathering players looking for sleeves that actually last. Their durability and consistency have earned them a reputation as the most trusted option for protecting decks. Until now, though, fans had to choose between function and flair, since official Magic artwork wasn’t part of Dragon Shield’s catalog. That changes with a new partnership announced at MagicCon: Atlanta 2025.

Wizards of the Coast and Dragon Shield revealed that the sleeve maker will now produce officially licensed Magic accessories, starting with card sleeves that combine Dragon Shield’s long-standing toughness with the game’s most iconic art. It’s a collaboration that feels like a natural fit, and players at the convention were quick to share their excitement.

Rebecca Shepard, Vice President of Franchise for Magic: The Gathering, highlighted the significance of the deal: “Dragon Shield is a trusted name among fans, and this collaboration ensures players can protect the game they love with accessories that celebrate the stories, legends, and artistry that make Magic legendary.” Dragon Shield CEO Kevin Isaacson echoed the enthusiasm, noting that the partnership allows his company to bring its passion for design and quality directly to the community it admires.

The first wave of products showed that both companies are aiming straight at the heart of the game’s most dedicated fans. Three themed series of Dual Matte Art sleeves were unveiled:

  • The Legendary Series, debuting with The Ur-Dragon, a commander icon and a clear nod to the thriving Commander format.

  • The Landfall Series, featuring alternate art from five of the most sought-after fetch lands, including cards like Misty Rainforest and Scalding Tarn. These lands are staples across formats and highly recognizable to collectors.

  • The Guildpact Series, previewed for a spring 2026 release, will highlight the symbols of all 10 Ravnica guilds, letting players represent their favorite two-color identity.

Collectors at MagicCon scrambled to pick up the exclusive Dracogenesis sleeves, which were available only at the event. Limited convention-only releases like these often become instant collectibles, with secondary market demand reflecting their rarity.

Beyond the excitement of new designs, this partnership carries big strategic weight. For Wizards and parent company Hasbro, it’s a smart way to expand licensing revenue by tapping into consumable products that players regularly replace. For Dragon Shield, it elevates the brand from being the top unofficial choice to an officially recognized partner tied directly to Magic’s most valuable intellectual property.

At its core, the deal is about merging quality and authenticity. Players have trusted Dragon Shield for protection, and now they can pair that trust with official Magic art. For the community, it’s a long-requested collaboration that finally brings together the best sleeves on the market with the game’s legendary visuals.
