Topps Gears Up for Exciting Future with Chrome Basketball and Expansive Sports Card Releases

Despite being a year from officially acquiring the NBA license and two years from taking over the NFL rights, Fanatics/Topps is aggressively planning an extensive slate of trading card releases across multiple sports. The company announced these plans at their Industry Conference in Atlanta, highlighting upcoming products for basketball, football, UFC, soccer, and F1.

Basketball Topps is set to reintroduce Topps Chrome as an NBA product this summer, marking its first appearance since the 2009-10 season. The company has already begun promotional activities, featuring an autographed rookie card of Victor Wembanyama. Fanatics has secured exclusive autograph deals with notable figures such as Wembanyama and LeBron James, along with other basketball legends like Shaquille O’Neal and Kevin Durant. The basketball lineup will also include several new products:

  • Midnight Cosmic
  • Chrome Finest
  • Motif (a premium release)
  • Royalty Collection
  • Collegiate Chrome
  • Bowman U Chrome Currently, Topps is restricted from using NBA or team logos until the license transitions from Panini America next year.

Football Topps plans to expand its football card offerings, focusing mainly on college players until its NFL license becomes active in 2026. Upcoming football products will include:

  • Motif
  • Composite (similar to Panini’s Chronicles line)
  • Collegiate Chrome
  • Collegiate Royalty
  • Bowman U Chrome
  • Bowman U Best These products will start rolling out in the third quarter of 2024.

Soccer For soccer enthusiasts, Topps is developing the Champions League Dynasty product, featuring all on-card autographs and match-worn gear. A new women’s Champions League product will also include patch autographs. Additionally, Topps will introduce "The Grail" inserts in six soccer products, with a grand prize of an all-expenses-paid trip to the 2024-25 Champions League Final. Special 1/1 MLS Debut Patches will appear in the Renaissance, Finest, and Chrome series.

UFC In the UFC category, Topps will reintroduce the Finest brand and launch several high-end products, including:

  • Royal
  • UFC Midnight
  • Knockout
  • Gold Label

F1 Topps' F1 releases will continue with exciting new products like Paddock Pass, which mirrors the Stadium Club series but with chrome cards. This product will be available in retail configurations. Additional F1 offerings will include:

  • Topps Chrome Finest
  • Dynasty (featuring booklet cards and Michael Schumacher cut signatures)
