Robert Edward Auctions is currently hosting its May Encore auction, a treasure trove of sports collectibles that includes over 3,600 lots, ranging from complete 1950s baseball card sets to rare vintage cards and even a check signed by Honus Wagner shortly after his baseball career ended.

This expansive auction began on Thursday and will span ten days, highlighting items from the early days of baseball to modern sports cards. Early standout lots include a T206 White Border Ty Cobb Bat Off Shoulder card from 1909-1911 with a rare Uzit back, and a Ty Cobb rookie card from the 1907 Wolverine News Postcard series.

Other highlights from the auction include vintage baseball sets like the 1957 Topps Complete Set and the near-complete 1958 Topps set, along with several high-grade cards from the 1950s Bowman and Topps sets, including rookie cards of baseball legends Willie Mays, Mickey Mantle, and Sandy Koufax. The event also features a complete set break of the iconic 1951 Bowman set.

Memorabilia pieces in the auction include a ticket stub from the 1957 NFL Championship Game and a 1920 Real Photo Postcard of the Harvard football team that played in the Rose Bowl.

REA President Brian Dwyer expressed excitement about the auction's offerings, noting the high quality of the lots following their successful $15.4 million spring sale. He highlighted the strong collector interest and the premium nature of the items up for auction.

Bidders can participate in the auction until May 19 on the REA website, with each item starting at a bid of $10. This auction not only presents a significant opportunity for collectors to acquire rare and high-end sports memorabilia but also celebrates the rich history of sports collectibles.
