In a strategic move to expand its portfolio, Leaf Trading Cards has successfully acquired the rights to the Press Pass brand, signaling a new chapter for the once-prominent name in the trading card industry. Press Pass, known for its innovative memorabilia cards and a focus on NASCAR and NFL Draft products, ceased operations in 2015 after more than two decades of contributing significantly to the trading card market.
Leaf Trading Cards, under the leadership of CEO Kevin O’Neil, a former Director of Sales at Press Pass, is poised to rejuvenate the brand with fresh product lines. The revival kicks off with a focus on football, featuring JuJu Lewis, a highly touted quarterback prospect for USC’s class of 2025, marking the first card under the revitalized Press Pass brand. This initiative not only signals Leaf’s commitment to the Press Pass legacy but also its intention to continue innovating within the sports memorabilia domain.
The forthcoming Press Pass-branded football box, anticipated to release soon, represents the first of many standalone products planned under the acquisition. This move by Leaf not only honors the legacy of Press Pass but also aims to build on its pioneering contributions to the industry, such as the introduction of memorabilia cards incorporating race-used tires, sheet metal, and the first-ever game-used jersey basketball cards featuring legends like Kobe Bryant and Allen Iverson.
By bringing back the Press Pass brand, Leaf Trading Cards is set to offer collectors and sports enthusiasts new opportunities to engage with their favorite sports and athletes through a blend of nostalgia and innovation.
