An extensive array of autographed baseballs from a single collection is up for grabs at Hindman's Having a Ball Auction, based in Chicago. The auction showcases over 570 lots featuring single and group-signed balls from baseball's storied past, including signatures from luminaries like Ty Cobb, Babe Ruth, and Jackie Robinson. James Smith of Hindman highlights this as one of their most comprehensive and thrilling collections to date.
A key item expected to draw attention is a 1934 New York Yankees team-signed baseball, marking Babe Ruth's final season with the team. This piece of memorabilia is accompanied by letters of authenticity from PSA and Beckett Authentication Services.
The auction also presents a ball signed by early baseball legends such as Cy Young and the sport's first commissioner, Kennesaw "Mountain" Landis. This ball, with additional signatures from the wives of Christy Mathewson and John J. McGraw, comes with a Beckett Authentication Services letter of authenticity.
Other prominent lots include a high-grade 1955 Brooklyn Dodgers team-signed ball, a ball autographed by Walter Johnson, team-signed balls from the 1930 and 1932 Philadelphia Athletics, and a 1972 National League All-Star team ball signed by stars like Roberto Clemente and Hank Aaron.
Bidding is open through Hindman’s website and Live Auctioneers and will conclude starting at 9 AM CT on November 29, with lots closing one minute apart and provisions for extended bidding in place.
