Kansas City Royals star Bobby Witt Jr. has found a creative way to merge his love for baseball and his upcoming wedding. The Royals' shortstop, a professional athlete and avid collector, used custom baseball cards to invite his teammates to be groomsmen for his big day. One of the lucky recipients was teammate MJ Melendez, who shared the unique invitation online.

On October 29, card shop Pullwax posted a video showcasing Melendez unveiling the special card. Encased in a PSA 10 slab, the "Topps Bobby Witt Jr. Groomsman Card" featured a photo of the two players from a celebration during a 2022 game. The slab’s certification number confirmed there were only two cards in existence, making it an ultra-rare piece of memorabilia.

A Personal Touch

The back of the card included a heartfelt message from Witt:

“I couldn’t think of a better way to send groomsman invitations than by using custom baseball cards. It would be an honor for you to be by my side on my wedding day. It wouldn’t feel right without you there. Consider this the official invite!

– B Witter”

The thoughtful and personalized approach brought a fresh twist to the traditional wedding invitation, perfectly aligning with Witt's passion for baseball and collecting.

A Big Year for Bobby Witt Jr.

The 24-year-old’s creativity with his wedding plans isn’t the only thing grabbing attention. Just one month ahead of his wedding, Witt celebrated a major milestone in his career by winning his first Silver Slugger Award earlier this week. It’s been a remarkable year for the Royals’ rising star, both on and off the field.

This unique and memorable use of custom baseball cards shows that even in the personal moments of life, Bobby Witt Jr. continues to bring his love for the game into everything he does.
